In the 19th century, this prestigious reserve graced the finest tables across Europe; highly prized by Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, it has since been known as "The Queen of Liqueurs." It is a *cuvée d'assemblage* drawn from various casks of long-aged Yellow Chartreuse, selected by the Carthusian monks and released in a limited edition of just 1,300 numbered bottles. It comes in a screen-printed presentation box. Visually, it displays a straw-yellow hue with green-gold highlights. The nose reveals a unique blend of herbal notes, Mediterranean scrub, dark chocolate, and mocha, with an underlying hint of anise. On the palate, it is sweet and fresh, echoing the aromas perceived earlier; its roundness comes from ingredients such as honey and saffron which, combined with the wine-based spirit, create a smooth texture and a harmonious, spicy finish. Only two Carthusian monks know the full list of botanicals in the secret recipe for this world-renowned liqueur, produced near Voiron in the French Alps. They personally oversee the slow aging process in oak casks. There are no chemical additives; even the color is entirely natural. The blend comprises 130 ingredients—including herbs, spices, roots, and flowers—subjected to various alcohol infusions and distillations to create a truly unique product. Best served chilled—or even over ice—it is perfect as a digestif or as an ingredient in a variety of cocktails.
